熊本県八代市の久連子地区で300年以上も続いているという古代踊り。この踊りで使われる花笠の飾りを採取するために飼育されてきた鶏です。肥後矮鶏、天草大王、地すり、熊本種とあわせて肥後５種と呼ばれます。

There is an ancient dance festival in Kureko, Yatsushiro-city, Kumamoto since more than 300 years ago. They were bred to collect feathers to decorate the hat used in the festival. Kurekodori, Higo-chabo, Amakusadaio, Jisuri and other species of Kumamoto together are called “Five Chickens of Higo”.
