その名の通り土佐が原産の地鶏。日本の地鶏のなかで最も小型で、近年は日本鶏のルーツであるセクショクヤケイの直系とも考えられています。他に小地鶏系として蓑曳矮鶏（尾曳）や鶉矮鶏（鶉尾）がいます。

Originate in Tosa as the name. Smallest jidori in Japan. They are thought to be the direct descendant of the Red junglefowl. The Minohiki-chabo and the Quail-chabo are also small jidori.
